Although the exact cause of Rosacea is unknown it has been found that certain things are more likely to trigger flare-ups. Exposure to sunlight and irritation from hairspray are commonly associated with Rosacea, whilst other triggers may include stress, heat, and alcohol consumption.

It has been found that the condition can be worsened by alcohol consumption, extreme temperatures (hot and cold), stress, and exercise. Certain cases of Rosacea can also be highly sensitive to sunlight.

Rosacea is most commonly found in middle-aged white women, however, it can affect anyone – men who suffer from the condition generally experience more severe symptoms. As the condition becomes more persistent the affected area can take on a ruddy appearance as skin becomes thicker. Rosacea can form on the:

• Nose
• Chin
• Cheeks
• Forehead

It may occasionally appear on the chest, neck, scalp, and ears in the most severe cases.
